EVERY GOOD AND PERFECT GIFT!

Greetings church family!

Take a minute and think about the things you enjoy in life!

I absolutely love butter pecan ice cream.  Oh, there are many other flavors of ice cream that I enjoy, but nothing does it for me like a scoop (or three) of creamy, delicious butter pecan ice cream.

I absolutely love mountains and mountain air.  That doesn't mean I don't enjoy going to the beach or walking through a forest, but there is something about being in the mountains and breathing in high altitude air that just refreshes my soul.

I love a good movie.  It always amazes me how someone can write a quality story, and then other people can bring the characters of the story to life, and still others can put together a team to provide the visual and sound context to bring the complete story to life.

I love singing and or playing instruments with a group of talented musicians.  All of the different voices or instruments coming together and uniting to create beautiful music - is there anything better.

Life is full of blessings like this.  It used to be that I enjoyed things like those mentioned above and forgot all about the One who provides us with these amazing gifts.  However, I have come to discover that even greater than my joy over a butter pecan ice cream cone, or a trek into the mountains, or watching The Prince of Egypt. or singing with an acapella group, is my gratitude to my heavenly Father who made all of these things possible in the first place.

James 1:17 reminds us that "every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Church family, I encourage you to take the time, whenever you enjoy life's simplest pleasures and sweetest blessings, to stop and acknowledge the greatness of the Giver behind them.  If the gifts are great, how much greater is the Giver!

Blessings everyone, and remember, God is for you, God is with you, and God loves you!
