Are You Exhausted?

Greetings church family!

All of us have experienced exhaustion whether physical or mental at multiple times in our lives. No matter the cause, it can seem overwhelming, cause anxiety and may lead to depression. We may seek help to overcome it by using exercise, energy drinks, medications, social interactions, or periods of extended sleep (that can leave us feeling more exhausted). It can leave us feeling debilitated and, in some cases, feeling like we are just ready to give up.

Have you ever felt spiritually exhausted? I know I have on many occasions, and often it was from my own doing. It may come in the form of being too busy do a daily devotion or taking time to connect with our Creator, or maybe not feel energized enough to get up on Sabbath morning to go to church, or in extreme cases feeling like simply giving up to where you question what it is all for anyway. It may come from being over-involved or under-involved. Spiritual exhaustion can drain our vital capacities to love, to have empathy, to see beyond our own dimensions. It too can cause anxiety, and lead to depression and a sense of desperation.

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Wow does that sound like a refreshing solutions.

However, is Jesus referring to physical, mental or spiritual burdens? How will Jesus yoke be easy and a light burden? Doesn’t Scripture clearly reveal that salvation is by works?

Join us Sabbath on a journey to see how Scripture supports that salvation is by works and yet how Jesus’s yoke is easy, and His burden is light for us. We’ll discover how all of this can be an elixir for spiritual exhaustion.
