Q&A With the Lord

Dear Foothills Family and Friends,

This week in our continuing sermon series, Pastor Don takes on a challenging question:

“Does God Answer Prayers?”

Frankly, there are times in our life-journey when God doesn't seem to answer prayers right away—or at all. The Biblical perspective suggests this does not mean:

- God doesn't care, or

- God is not listening.

God is our loving Heavenly Parent

Paul said: "We are the offspring of God" (Acts 17:29). As our parent, God loves us and desires a close relationship with us that includes our communicating with him through prayer. God always listens when we do.

God loves us beyond measure and cares more deeply than we could ever imagine!

I find it helpful to look at prayer—our communication with God—as an avenue (along with Scripture) to know what God has envisioned for us and would desire us to be and do.

Jesus said: “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you” (John15:7).

James 1:5-6 says: “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all...but let him ask in faith….”

Sometimes God waits to answer our prayers because he trusts us to make the right decision. Other times, God might ask us to exercise patience knowing this will build our faith and trust in his goodness, wisdom, and faithfulness.

God may at times give us answers that are not what we had desired or anticipated.

Beloved friends, we can take comfort and assurance in knowing that God is always present, God listens, God cares, and God desires only the very best for us!

God will take care of us—and God will help us grow and flourish as we reach toward our full spiritual capacity in the faith!

May we recognize and receive God's loving presence and perfect answers as a church family!
